English

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

In Philippians, Paul encourages prayer, requests, and thanksgiving, alongside attention to what is worthy of thought. This does not guarantee that stress instantly disappears; it invites turning toward God amid worry. I worry about my child's future; I want to help without trying to decide everything for them. Loving a child includes letting them practice choosing. Presence and control are different. Begin with a small concrete response today: Ask what support your child needs and listen before answering. Feelings deserve acknowledgment, but they are not the whole story. Distinguish what happened, your interpretation, and what remains unknown.

A question to sit with

English

As I reflect on “A child's future”: What are facts, and what are still my guesses?

One small step today

English

Write facts and guesses in two separate columns.

Prayer response

English

Father, I worry about my child's future; I want to help without trying to decide everything for them. Give me courage to face my feelings and patience to separate facts from assumptions. In Jesus' name, amen.
