This guide focuses on schools with a Christian identity that provide general school education. Schools may be governed by a church, a denominational body, or an independent board; names alone do not establish governance.

Full-time schools offer everyday academic subjects. Sunday school is generally church-based faith education, while seminaries focus on theology and ministry preparation. Homeschool co-ops and supplemental programs should be identified separately.

Explore Catholic, Protestant denominational, interdenominational, and non-denominational identities. Protestant backgrounds can include Lutheran, Reformed, and Anglican traditions. A label is an entry point; consult the school's own documents for its actual commitments.

Distinguish parish or church governance from independent governance, then examine day, boarding, hybrid, or homeschool arrangements. Ask who controls curriculum, hires teachers, handles complaints, and how much teaching responsibility rests with families.

ACSI describes biblical worldview integration as examining assumptions behind academic content through Scripture. It explicitly says this does not guarantee spiritual renewal. Ask how the philosophy appears in mathematics, literature, or science lessons.

The standards presented by NCEA emphasize whole-child education rooted in Gospel values and collaboration with parents. Ask how religious identity, academic expectations, service learning, and family involvement work in a particular school.

Discuss faith formation, communication about values, character education, teacher relationships, and belonging. These are hopes to investigate, rather than benefits that every Christian school automatically provides.

Consider tuition, additional fees, transport, activities, and parent time, alongside course options, learning support, school culture, and religious participation. Faith identity does not replace examination of teaching quality or the child's experience.

Ask for a real weekly timetable covering academic subjects, religion, worship, arts, sports, and service. How can students ask questions, and how do teachers respond to differing views?

Examine bullying response, discipline, appeals, safeguarding, and family communication. Ask who handles language adjustment, learning differences, disability support, and counseling, what is available, and when referrals occur.

Gather mission and faith statements, curriculum and faculty information, complete fees and refund policies, and the student handbook with support services. Check the accreditor, covered grades, and current status rather than relying on a logo.

Observe classroom questions and feedback, how mistakes are handled, and who provides help. Invite the child to record what they like, what worries them, and what they still want to ask; discuss these at home.

Future interviews will invite families of different beliefs, students, alumni, and teachers to discuss decisions, adjustment, benefits, and difficulties. Include context and dates, protect minors' privacy, and treat experiences as individual. No interviews have been collected yet.

Useful accounts include the child's age, school and year, reasons for choosing, alternatives, and expectations met or unmet. Ask what the parent would verify earlier if choosing again. This produces more useful information than a simple good-or-bad verdict.
