English
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12 urges believers to refuse revenge and seek peace as far as possible, entrusting judgment to God. Application must distinguish peace, renewed closeness, and safety. I want the other person to feel my pain, yet revenge will not heal it. Revenge lets harm direct the next step. Seeking justice can coexist with refusing to inflict harm. Begin with a small concrete response today: Pause an impulsive reply and document the incident for appropriate support.

Father, I want the other person to feel my pain, yet revenge will not heal it. Be with me here and help me bring my feelings honestly before you. Revenge lets harm direct the next step. Seeking justice can coexist with refusing to inflict harm. Give me wisdom and courage to respond today: Pause an impulsive reply and document the incident for appropriate support. While the outcome is uncertain, help me fulfill my responsibilities patiently and receive support from trustworthy people. Let my words and actions show love as I entrust what I cannot control to you. In Jesus' name, amen.
