But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

English
This conversation in Mark concerns the disciples' desire for status. Jesus redefines greatness through service and illustrates the path through his own mission. An older neighbor receives few visitors, and I want to care with respect. Visiting an older person is more than completing a task. Respect their story and pace. Begin with a small concrete response today: Ask for a suitable visit time and prepare an open question. Do not rush to solve the whole situation. Notice your body, surroundings, and inner voice, and bring your present need before God.

Father, An older neighbor receives few visitors, and I want to care with respect. Help me slow down and see this moment honestly without rushing to a verdict about myself. In Jesus' name, amen.
