English

Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

Isaiah 46 contrasts idols with God and emphasizes lasting care for God's people. Reflection on aging and caregiving should remember the passage's focus on continuing faithfulness. Caring for parents needs patience and a fair sharing of work. Caring for parents is a shared family concern. Clear needs reduce hidden burdens. Begin with a small concrete response today: List care tasks with your family and assign responsibilities. Feelings deserve acknowledgment, but they are not the whole story. Distinguish what happened, your interpretation, and what remains unknown.
