English

Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

Isaiah 46 contrasts idols with God and emphasizes lasting care for God's people. Reflection on aging and caregiving should remember the passage's focus on continuing faithfulness. I can no longer do everything alone, and receiving help feels uncomfortable. Receiving help releases the need to prove independence. Mutual need teaches humility and love. Begin with a small concrete response today: Accept suitable assistance and explain your preferences. Feelings deserve acknowledgment, but they are not the whole story. Distinguish what happened, your interpretation, and what remains unknown.

Prayer response

English

Father, I can no longer do everything alone, and receiving help feels uncomfortable. Give me courage to face my feelings and patience to separate facts from assumptions. In Jesus' name, amen.
