English
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

English
James 1 invites those lacking wisdom to ask God in the context of trials. Wisdom includes responsible action amid difficulty as well as information. An exam is near and I fear my effort is not enough. Study needs effort and rest. Entrusting the result does not mean abandoning preparation. Begin with a small concrete response today: Make a manageable revision list and protect sleep. Read the passage in its surrounding section. Notice speaker, audience, and context instead of turning Scripture into an instant formula.

Father, An exam is near and I fear my effort is not enough. Teach me to listen patiently to your word, seeking understanding before application. In Jesus' name, amen.
