English

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

Romans 12 connects sincere love, hope, patience, prayer, and hospitality. Perseverance need not mean solitary endurance; mutual care can sustain it as a way of life. A failure makes my effort seem meaningless. A setback need not end the story. Review facts and support to discern the next step. Begin with a small concrete response today: Record one lesson and adjust one practice. Feelings deserve acknowledgment, but they are not the whole story. Distinguish what happened, your interpretation, and what remains unknown.

A question to sit with

English

As I reflect on “After a setback”: What are facts, and what are still my guesses?

One small step today

English

Write facts and guesses in two separate columns.

Prayer response

English

Father, A failure makes my effort seem meaningless. Give me courage to face my feelings and patience to separate facts from assumptions. In Jesus' name, amen.
