12:9–13 · Romans 12:9–13

English

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

Romans 12 connects sincere love, hope, patience, prayer, and hospitality. Perseverance need not mean solitary endurance; mutual care can sustain it as a way of life. Troubling news makes it hard to remain peaceful. Peace is not indifference to suffering. Measured attention and concrete care can coexist. Begin with a small concrete response today: Limit news time and act on one need. Feelings deserve acknowledgment, but they are not the whole story. Distinguish what happened, your interpretation, and what remains unknown.

Father, Troubling news makes it hard to remain peaceful. Give me courage to face my feelings and patience to separate facts from assumptions. In Jesus' name, amen.
