Psalm 23 portrays care through images of a shepherd and a host without avoiding dark paths. Applying it to health seeks presence and provision, not a guarantee that every illness will heal as expected. Since becoming ill, I keep saying I am fine because I fear troubling others. Receiving care can begin with a small request. Others need not know every detail to offer fitting help. A small step today: Ask one friend for a specific kind of help and name your privacy preferences. Responding to Scripture need not mean a grand decision. One achievable action today may be more honest than a vague promise to change.

Father, Since becoming ill, I keep saying I am fine because I fear troubling others. Give me courage to do what I can today and grace to accept my limits. In Jesus' name, amen.
