23:1–6 · Psalm 23:1–6

English

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

Psalm 23 portrays care through images of a shepherd and a host without avoiding dark paths. Applying it to health seeks presence and provision, not a guarantee that every illness will heal as expected. After physical changes, I keep judging myself against who I used to be. God's care does not tie dignity to strength or appearance. Adjustment takes time and gentle attention to present needs. A small step today: Name one care need today and describe yourself in respectful language. Review is not a scorecard. Notice small changes, what still needs time, and where another person's company may help. Growth can be slow.
