Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Romans 12 connects sincere love, hope, patience, prayer, and hospitality. Perseverance need not mean solitary endurance; mutual care can sustain it as a way of life. A similar opportunity arises, but a past setback makes beginning difficult. Patience does not erase failure. It brings learning to a fitting response, perhaps through a smaller beginning. A small step today: Choose a low-risk step and name what you will do differently. Prayer does not require a performance of calm. Name gratitude, fear, questions, and hope in turn, and leave room for silence.
