Asking a neighbor one more question

SeekLight original

6:6–8 · Micah 6:6–8

English

Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

Micah 6 asks how people approach God, then turns to justice, mercy, and humble walking. Devotion includes how neighbors are treated, alongside religious practice. A neighbor has rarely been outside lately, and I have not acted on my concern. Humble care asks about actual needs. A small invitation that can be declined makes love practical. A small step today: Offer a greeting and ask whether one manageable kind of help would be welcome.

Prayer response

English

Father, A neighbor has rarely been outside lately, and I have not acted on my concern. Help me see my needs and responsibilities through your word. Humble care asks about actual needs. A small invitation that can be declined makes love practical. Give me courage to respond: Offer a greeting and ask whether one manageable kind of help would be welcome. Help me trust where things remain uncertain and receive fitting company. In Jesus' name, amen.
