But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

This conversation in Mark concerns the disciples' desire for status. Jesus redefines greatness through service and illustrates the path through his own mission. After helping without acknowledgment, I notice how much recognition matters to me. Noticing motives is a chance for discernment rather than self-attack. Discuss burdens honestly while learning not to depend entirely on praise. A small step today: Name the purpose of your service and discuss one real burden with the coordinator. Do not rush to solve the whole situation. Notice your body, surroundings, and inner voice, and bring your present need before God.
