But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. This conversation in Mark concerns the disciples' desire for status. Jesus redefines greatness through service and illustrates the path through his own mission. After helping without acknowledgment, I notice how much recognition matters to me. Noticing motives is a chance for discernment rather than self-attack. Discuss burdens honestly while learning not to depend entirely on praise. A small step today: Name the purpose of your service and discuss one real burden with the coordinator. My situation also involves other people. Consider who needs to be heard, who can offer support, and which boundaries deserve respect.
