Seeing a younger person struggle makes me want to make every decision. Begin with what actually happened and distinguish your responsibilities. A faithful response can unfold through honest words and a concrete action. A practice for today: Ask whether advice is welcome and offer experience in support of their judgment. Prayer does not require a performance of calm. Name gratitude, fear, questions, and hope in turn, and leave room for silence.
