English
Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

English
Isaiah 46 contrasts idols with God and emphasizes lasting care for God's people. Reflection on aging and caregiving should remember the passage's focus on continuing faithfulness. Adult children make plans for me without first asking my wishes. Begin with what actually happened and distinguish your responsibilities. A faithful response can unfold through honest words and a concrete action. A practice for today: Thank them for their care and explain the decisions you wish to join. Feelings deserve acknowledgment, but they are not the whole story. Distinguish what happened, your interpretation, and what remains unknown.

Father, Adult children make plans for me without first asking my wishes. Give me courage to face my feelings and patience to separate facts from assumptions. In Jesus' name, amen.
