Psalm 23 portrays care through images of a shepherd and a host without avoiding dark paths. Applying it to health seeks presence and provision, not a guarantee that every illness will heal as expected. At a relative's appointment I answer everything because I am anxious to help. Begin with what actually happened and distinguish your responsibilities. A faithful response can unfold through honest words and a concrete action. A practice for today: Ask how they want help and leave space for them to describe their own needs. Responding to Scripture need not mean a grand decision. One achievable action today may be more honest than a vague promise to change.
