Asking for feedback

SeekLight original

English

But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

This conversation in Mark concerns the disciples' desire for status. Jesus redefines greatness through service and illustrates the path through his own mission. Fear of criticism keeps me from asking whether my help fits. Begin with what actually happened and distinguish your responsibilities. A faithful response can unfold through honest words and a concrete action. A practice for today: Ask specifically what helped and what should change.

Prayer response

English

Father, Fear of criticism keeps me from asking whether my help fits. Help me face these feelings honestly and recognize responsibilities and limits. Help me begin here: Ask specifically what helped and what should change. Give me patience with unanswered questions and willingness to receive company. In Jesus' name, amen.
