This conversation in Mark concerns the disciples' desire for status. Jesus redefines greatness through service and illustrates the path through his own mission. Fear of criticism keeps me from asking whether my help fits. Begin with what actually happened and distinguish your responsibilities. A faithful response can unfold through honest words and a concrete action. A practice for today: Ask specifically what helped and what should change. Prayer does not require a performance of calm. Name gratitude, fear, questions, and hope in turn, and leave room for silence.
