1:5–8 · James 1:5–8

English

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Reflecting in daily life · Devotional interpretation

English

James 1 invites those lacking wisdom to ask God in the context of trials. Wisdom includes responsible action amid difficulty as well as information. Graduation is approaching without a clear future plan. Direction often forms gradually. Exploration can be wiser than forcing a lifelong answer. Begin with a small concrete response today: Ask someone experienced about one real career path. Do not rush to solve the whole situation. Notice your body, surroundings, and inner voice, and bring your present need before God.

English

Father, Graduation is approaching without a clear future plan. Help me slow down and see this moment honestly without rushing to a verdict about myself. In Jesus' name, amen.
