Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Romans 12 connects sincere love, hope, patience, prayer, and hospitality. Perseverance need not mean solitary endurance; mutual care can sustain it as a way of life. A similar opportunity arises, but a past setback makes beginning difficult. Patience does not erase failure. It brings learning to a fitting response, perhaps through a smaller beginning. A small step today: Choose a low-risk step and name what you will do differently. Do not rush to solve the whole situation. Notice your body, surroundings, and inner voice, and bring your present need before God.
