This conversation in Mark concerns the disciples' desire for status. Jesus redefines greatness through service and illustrates the path through his own mission. A new volunteer waits because nobody has explained the task. Begin with what actually happened and distinguish your responsibilities. A faithful response can unfold through honest words and a concrete action. A practice for today: Introduce the coordinator, task steps, and a clear way to ask questions. Prayer does not require a performance of calm. Name gratitude, fear, questions, and hope in turn, and leave room for silence.
